ATZ Congress Electrified Mobility

elect! 2018

The elect! trade fair for electrified mobility and the “elect! ATZ Conference Electrified Mobility” will jointly present the very latest developments, concepts, services, vehicles, products, and components for the automotive industry and the transportation sector. The trade fair and conference event will showcase technologies from OEMs, Tier 1-3 suppliers, energy, and charging infrastructure at the stage of development before entry into mass production.

Mobility secures our economic growth and employment and therefore our prosperity. Mobility also gives us a feeling of freedom and independence. Until now, internal combustion engines and fuels that power cars and commercial vehicles have kept us mobile. Discussions concerning climate change and air quality as well as the finite nature of fossil fuels are now forcing us to rethink and to take a completely new approach to the issue of mobility.

Mobility helps to ensure our prosperity and gives us a feeling of freedom. Until now we have relied on the combustion engines and fossil fuels that power our cars and trucks to stay on the move. But legislation on climate change and air quality is forcing us to rethink our approach. The electrification of transport is one solution that could allow us to achieve our objectives. The car manufacturers are now making good progress in this area and the number of electric models is growing.

There will not be a breakthrough in electric mobility until we can ensure the perfect interaction of the vehicles and the infrastructure. The elect! exhibition and congress is a new event staged by Messe Stuttgart in cooperation with ATZlive that aims to optimize this interaction across different industries and on an international level. elect! follows on from the success of the 30th International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS30) and is based on an extensive international network in the automotive industry.

The “elect! ATZ Conference Electrified Mobility” will therefore examine electrified mobility concepts from the two perspectives of mobility and technology.

The electrification of mobility opens up new opportunities: digitization, connected vehicles, autonomous driving, and electric mobility are the overriding issues in this process of change in the automotive industry. Car makers are going on the offensive. The model range of electrified vehicles is being visibly expanded. However, a real breakthrough in electric mobility will not take place until there is perfect interaction between the product and the infrastructure, and there are many different interest groups and stakeholders involved in this process.

The aim is to find answers to questions like these:
  • How will individual mobility, local public transport, and delivery services change?
  • Which products will change our mobility?
  • What will the run up to electric mobility with hybridized and all-electric powertrains look like?
  • Will these have a secure supply of energy from regenerative resources?
  • Which role will be played by the fuel cell in national and international markets?

Whether, in the future, we will still buy cars or instead will buy mobility is a question that we will examine in a panel discussion with participants from various industries and from politics.

By organizing the elect! Exhibition & Conference, this newly formed cooperation between ATZlive and the trade fair center Messe Stuttgart is creating a forward-looking trade fair and congress event for electrified mobility. The aim is to optimize the interaction between the interest groups involved, across different industries and on an international level. Industry leaders and experts from all over the world will meet at this scientific conference to present their ideas of future mobility concepts and technical solutions for electrified powertrains and to discuss these in a network of specialists. The conference will take place on the first two days of the trade fair and will run in parallel to it.
